Absolutely outstanding. In historic Old Town Spring. They are small and everything is fresh made so it does take a bit longer to get your food, but the taste is worth it. It was not cheap by any means but I would recommend. We are planning on going back for sure. Their crepes and the crab cake eggs Benedict we're just amazing!

  • *****

Delicious! I had the chicken, spinach and artichoke quiche, as well as the lobster bisque. Fast, friendly service. Reasonably priced.

Heard of this restaurant from many of my friends. Finally, I got there. Everything is great. Fresh salad, super tasty ranch dressing. Their chocolate cake is a must-order.

Fast and organized. The desserts are definitely worth the cost you pay. Very yummy/delicious.

I love any restaurant that has a dog friendly patio first and foremost! Everyone was extremely kind and explained the menu since we were first timers (eating the food. We've had their sweets before). I had the chicken and spinach quiche. I enjoyed every bite and my husband loved his crawfish etouffee as well. The whole reason of coming was to try out the food but I can't help but to love the sweets more. The ice cream is always on point. Try the birthday cake one, trust me. Our 2 dishes and 2 drinks (minus dessert) came out to $36, which was a little more on the pricier side, but the service makes it worthwhile!

  • *****

The only thing that's iffy is the speed of service!
My sister and I sat outside on the back patio which was super cutely decorated-- christmas light bulbs, wood, etc. there's even a little creek looking thing.
I liked the selection of drinks; glass bottled sodas, coffee, espresso, regular soda and tea. The food selection was really good and the food tasted phenomenal. I got the tuna melt and my sister got the chicken fajita pita which was amazing. The portions were worth the money, too.
We got 2 glass bottle sodas, an espresso shot, waters, and the 2 meals for $32.

  • *****

Very nice - had the best quiche Lorraine with a nice, fresh, crisp salad. Great staff, very appreciable of your business - definitely will be back! My friend had the chicken salad sandwich - equally great.

Stop for breakfast at 10:45 but they stop serving at 10:15...so brunch (lunch). Owner came over and explained just a bit of delay, the kitchen was finishing change over. The cafe was clean, staff friendly and lots laugher from diners. Nice place!! Food was really good and hot. We had chicken quiche and burger!

From first appearance you would think it is a tiny little cafe until you make a 100ft walk into the seating area that stretches roughly 100 feet back with a small outside patio. We had the pleasure of having Taylor as our server, great smile, pleasant attitude, very attentive, fairly informative. We met the owners Matt and Jessica- cute couple, Matt is the head chef who was full of knowledge when asked about menu items and Jessica appears to handle front of house (loved her hat!)... the food (at least the burgers) were amazing! Cooked to order and served perfectly! Whether you just want to stop in for ice cream, nuts, fudge, or a sit down meal I would definately recommend them. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner... we will be coming back for breakfast soon.

We were too late for breakfast :o( but lunch was Great!
Hubby and I ordered bacon-spinach quiche and a burger. The quiche was excellent, tasted homemade: The mixture had a creamy/cheesy taste and the slice included plenty of filling. The burger and brioche bun were excellent. We ordered blackberry cobbler (with ice cream) to go. After returning home, we tried it: OMG! first, the cobbler was nice and thick (not runny), blackberries were awesome, as was the crust--all had just the right amount of sweetness. Now, for the ice cream - a 2nd OMG--homemade vanilla! What more could you ask for in a dessert?? We can't wait to return for breakfast, lunch and dinner! P.S. The service was friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very busy for a Thursday afternoon at 12p. Great! Congratulations Jessica & Matthew! We'll BE BACK :o)

Delicious!!!! First time dining at Ellen's Caf and I assure you it will NOT be my/our last. My wife and I enjoyed a delicious dinner tonight. My wife had beef tenderloin sliders - fantastic! I had the Frikadeller with spatzle and braised red cabbage. The red cabbage was so good it could be dessert. Dessert was a tough choice... so many homemade pies, cakes, fudge, ice cream and more to choose from... we finally decided on their bread pudding! This place is a must! Wish I could give them more stars!!!

  • *****

Ellen’s Cafe is incredible. So many delicious homemade choices.

Updated!!! I still love the s**t out of this place. I am here today on July 13, 2018 on a Friday where one of the specials is Angel hair pasta with chicken. And it is AMAZING!!! I also want to shout out Taylor, our server. She is everything you would appreciate in a server and a very kind person :) so thank you Taylor. This place is amazing for date night. ALSO of you want to surprise the s**t out of your friends by knowing an small resturrest, that is cute, with the best food ever, including their desserts, and so much more. Come here.

  • *****

Awesome food! Homemade ice cream and fudge-great value-we’ll be back especially for the lobster roll.

  • *****

WOW! Absolutely, positively the best damned burger I've had since....well, ever! The burgers are made with American Heart Association approved Akaushi beef! Wonderfully relaxed and very friendly staff treating you just as if you are long lost friend. Decor is bright, cozy and comfortable with good amount of room between tables. Great menu with decent selection, including GLUTEN FREE. You can order your burger on gluten free bread; I was hesitant first, but thank God I did - it was the best gluten free bread ever! Prices are quite reasonable; the best burger ever was $11.99 and came with side order...worth every penny. Oh but wait, the ice creams, pies and coblers for desert's are like dance on your tongue! If you have a special diet to follow - call ahead, they will accommodate you.

  • *****

  • *****

My favorite place. Delicious food, generous servings, EXCELLENT customer service.

  • *****

Went for a day trip to old Town Spring and found this quaint cottage style restaurant. We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich for our daughter, my wife had the Chicken-Spinach-Artichoke Quiche with tomato basil soup. I had the HeartBrand Akaushi Beef Hamburger with the chicken dumpling soup. The grilled cheese sandwich was good, can't really go wrong with that. The Quiche was tasty and fresh and the Beef Burger was delicious and well done to perfection. The soups are tasty and are a meal in itself so we couldn't finish off our lunch and had to take the left overs to go. The deserts are supposed to be good, too bad we just didn't have any place left in our stomachs!. We paid 31.36$ for a satisfying lunch!.

  • *****

Ellen’s is an amazing restaurant with amazing service. The coolest thing to me is where the owners (Matt and Jessica) got the name. Their sweet beautiful dog can live forever through the business for many years to come!!!

We go to Ellen’s for lunch quite often. The ambiance, food, and service are all excellent!

  • *****

Great food! Make sure you get there early since they run out of the fatty brisket quick. Wasn't too crowded either. The seats SUCK though. Man are they bad. The tables in the middle are good, but the tables on the side...oh my goodness I've never sat on a worse chair.

  • *****

Have to agree that it would be nice to have linen and crystal but the food and peach tea are the best ever. Try the rueben or the bisque. Wow! The service is great and prices are way fair plus you're in Old Town Spring!

  • *****

been going there for years. The food is always fresh and plentiful. The service is also top notch and the ice cream is like the old days.

  • *****

We have been there at least 5 or 6 times & everything we've had on the menu has been divine. The owners & the staff are superb. We were there today for my sister in laws birthday lunch & we are going back tomorrow, DELICIOUS!!!!!

  • *****

    DELICIOUS FOOD! Very fresh!
However, the decor is lacking. Paneling coming off the wall, tables have cheap plastic tablecloths and a general neglected look. Don't sit by the kitchen, it's very noisy and loud.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was sweet and very accommodating. When one at our table thought her meal was over cooked, she immediately replaced it with a smile. She did leave to help scoop ice cream and never came back to bring us our check or pack up our left over dessert. We had to find to go boxes ourselves and then wait for them to finish up with the ice cream to get and pay our check.
Overall, worth a trip for the food.

  • *****

very good food, the fudge is to die for and cozy place reminds me of my grandmas house inbthe country awsome...

  • *****

Great food, atmosphere, and service! Couldn't ask for better. The owners and staff are so friendly and amazing.

  • *****

The food is top notch! The service is always great! We love stopping by after church.

  • *****

This place is amazing. They support all first responders daily. My shift make it a point to give back to all that support us. We eat here several times a week. Amazing customer service and the food can’t be beat.

  • *****

    love the fudge

  • *****

My wife and I have eaten here dozens of times over the past two years. Every time the food has been amazing. Chef Matt does not disappoint with classics to his own masterful creations. Lobster Bisque Friday's, to red beans and rice w sausage, to club sandwich or fresh quiche. If you have a sweet tooth you will love the homemade hand dipped cones and ice cream or one of the many cakes and pies. The hardest part is choosing. Mark and Jessica

  • *****

I absolutely love this little jewel in Old Town Spring. The food is fresh and tasty and the service is good.
The owners are both chefs and love what they do and it shows. My fav spot in Old Town Spring to
    eat for sure.

  • *****

My favorite place to eat in Old Town Spring!!!

  • *****

Love this Place. We eat at Ellen’s every time we are visiting Old Town Spring. Have had so many different things from the menu and always so good. One of our favorite places. Can’t wait to visit again.

  • *****

I love this place. First of all, they have a great staff. Lauren took care of us and was very knowledgeable. Second, the food. The food is made from heaven and brought down. Everything is made in house! I tip my hat to the chef. I recommend this place to everyone. Also Friday is my favorite day here because they have lobster rolls!!

  • *****

This is the best lunch I have had in a very long time. I wanted to lick the plate clean! I had the mushroom and broccoli quiche with a house salad that had balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. I would have bought seconds but it was the perfect portion and I would have been stuffed if I had another plate. A gem of a restaurant!!

  • *****

Amazing food. Amazing service. Love that they have activities for the kids outside while you wait.

  • *****

Definitely the best food, services and prices in the Houston area, no matter where you live; it’s worth the drive to enjoy this culinary gem.

  • *****

This is a unique restaurant with a great atmosphere and good food. We regularly go there for breakfast on the weekend. Service is always pretty good with friendly wait staff. The ambience can't be beat although it has a distinct country feel to it so be aware if that's something you're not into. We personally like the rustic barn-like feel inside. The design of the building itself is actually quite incredible in that it's almost acoustically pure. This makes it an amazing venue for watching live performances of which they regularly host I highly recommend checking out their schedule of artists playing there.

  • *****

Can't say enough good things about Ellen's! I can't say I've had anything bad here at all. The sandwiches are loaded and delicious! The lobster bisque is awesome and the chicken artichoke quiche is my absolute favorite!!

  • *****

Came in for lunch on a Sunday. Got the club sandwich, large portion very tasty. The Staff were nice and friendly. Will come Back.

  • *****

Friendly service and hometown feel. First time time I found great German food outside of Fedricksburg. Dessert was delicious

  • *****

This is a great place to go with friends for a great meal and desert. Eat slow and enjoy some incredible food cooked for you, nothing about this place is close to “fast food”.

  • *****

After a very eventful morning I was in need of a break from the daily grind, so I decided to explore Old Town Spring and stop by here for lunch.

The service was very friendly and prompt and there were many items to choose from on the menu. The place is very clean, and there are lots of tables. There is a separate counter where you can just order fudge if you don't want to sit down and have a meal.

I ordered the CBS Sandwich with a side of potato salad. The potato salad was wonderful, both sweet and tangy. The bun for the sandwich was especially good-very soft, something between a hamburger bun and a croissant, and wonderfully toasted. The chicken breast in the sandwich was thick and juicy, and the bacon crunchy. It was topped off with Swiss cheese, lettuce, and fresh tomatoes. I only got through half of it before feeling full and can't wait to finish my leftovers later!

This is a great stop when you're in need of some traditional American fare (and a deep breath). I will be coming back.

  • *****

Great breakfast and even better people. Ms. Jessica, her husband and her staff are warm and inviting and ready to take care of you. If you have a request off menu they will absolutely do there best to comply and they have great healthy options seeing as they are classically trained chefs. This is a must try restaurant dessert location.

  • *****

Have not had a burger this good in a very long time. In every bite there was freshness. My wife had southwest quiche which was equally good. Will be back again and again

  • *****

We always feel welcome since we open the door. We feel like we are home. The food is excellent. I love their trio salad and my husband likes their chicken salad sandwich. Waitresses make us feel like family. We always want to come back. Prices are reasonable. Healthy food and perfect enviroment.

My wife and I were looking for breakfast. I ask Google for the best breakfast in spring Texas. I must thank all who reviewed previously. I would probably eat here everyday if I lived closer. Excellent food and service.

  • *****

Friendly staff, good food and priced were good, definitely a stop worthy of tour trip to old town spring

  • *****

This visit was for lunch. Could not get the dinner menu so I had chicken salad sandwich and gumbo. Both excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meals as always. I've cream and fudge after the meal always a bonus.

  • *****

Love the food! Cute atmosphere. Can't say enough good things about the service!!! Wonderful staff, very detail oriented. Love their Valentine's Day special dinner. My husband and I have been there the last two years for Valentine's Day and have not been disappointed.

  • *****

Love Ellen’s Cafe! So delicious and amazing staff!

  • *****

Love Ellen’s! Great food, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff! One of my favorite stops in Old Town Spring!

  • *****

My husband & I hadn't been to Old Town Spring in many years & went this past weekend. We absolutely LOVED Ellen's!

We had the Akaushi Burger & it was delicious! When you narrow it down, it's a basic burger: bun, meat, lettuce tomato & mayo. But this one is heaven because of the type of bun & the meat! The meat was juicy & tasted wonderful. The bun was soft & buttery.

What was good too is the amount of mayo they put on it. Some places put way too much & that's all you taste. Not here. They put just a small amount so you can taste everything.

Our waiter was very nice & attentive. I don't remember his name unfortunately. The whole staff was friendly & welcoming.

Wish I could give them more than 5 stars!

  • *****

Amazing! All of the food was packed with flavor ! From the crab cakes and steaks to the fudge !!!! Chef Matt and Jessica are two of the most talented folks around y’all ! ??

We really enjoyed the food and service ! the best food and desserts in town ! ?

  • *****

Breakfast was delicious! Server was great! We will definitely be back!

  • *****

Y'all. You've got to try this place. I've been here twice now and feel it necessary to leave my review. The first time I just popped in for desert, peach cobbler, and it was very yummy. Not a "knock your socks off" but I left perfectly satisfied. My friend got the tuna melt with mushroom soup and she was a very happy camper. Today I came back with a friend and I got a BLT on a croissant (not even on the menu but they gladly made it for me!). It was honestly the best BLT I've ever had, and that's kind of hard to say since they usually all taste very similar. My friend got a cheeseburger and she was beyond pleased with her choice as well. The service has been fantastic both times and the food delivered quickly. I will be back again and again!

  • *****

The best breakfast food I had in years. Pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff. The chef came to our table to ask about our food. Great experience.

  • *****

Really delicious dinner. First time here. It was a cold night and the coffee was hot and fresh. Large party and they happily gave us separate checks. Sweet waitress and the chef came out to see how we were. Will definitely come back.

  • *****

This was my first time and was very happy with the service even though they were very busy. I had a Reubin sandwich with salad and my friend had Chicken Salad sandwich with salad. We were happy with quality and portions. I will go back.

  • *****

Delicious breakfast lunch and dinner! Super friendly! The soups are my favorite, i also love that they have gluten free options

  • *****

Very Friendly wait staff and amazing chef. The food taste and looked so good! It was a very satisfying meal. It was my first time here and I will definitely visit again next time I'm in town.

  • *****

This is a lovely little restaurant. Sandwiches, delicious soups and salads and quiche. Desserts are outstanding. Excellent foid and great service. Our favorite place in Old Town Spring.

  • *****

Wonderful experience in a lovely cafe! The young woman at the counter was very kind and scarily accurate when dividing the fudge by weight. Fudge tasted great!

  • *****

We were in a pinch with our location for my daughter's baby shower and Jessica at Ellen's Cafe was so accommodating! With less than 24 hours to prepare for 20 people, she'd set the area and it was beautiful! The food was outstanding and the service was perfect. Thank you everyone at Ellen's for making this day perfect for my daughter!

  • *****

Food good was not busy went uesyerday. Service wea excellent!!!

  • *****

The California turkey sandwich was delicious! Potato salad was eh. Grilled cheese for the kids was OK, thankful it was made with real cheddar and not American fake cheese. Chicken Caesar salad was very delicious. Service was slow. Food came out fast though. Needs a hostess. Would eat here again if I was shopping around in Old Town Spring.

  • *****

If you haven't tried Ellen's yet you definitely should! I've been twice since Christmas because the breakfast is that good!
Their Rye bread is real rye bread, the pancakes are super fluffy and dense so I'm not eating air pockets, and the eggs are plentiful and delicious.

Service was very efficient and my waitress kept the coffee coming. The chef said hello on his way into the kitchen and everyone was in neat and clean clothing.

The restaurant itself was very clean, no swirly mop strokes on the floor or dust and dirt laying around. Windows were clean, tableware was clean and as I watched the waitresses they used good health code practices (Seriously, this matters). Tables were bussed and cleared quickly.

Overall this is a great place to eat and linger over a morning conversation. The food is very well prepared and tastes great, I definitely get my money's worth.

  • *****

I've eaten there several times and each time the food is delicious, and the service is great.

  • *****

Stopped in for breakfast. The staff is very friendly. But, the true prize of Ellen's Cafe are the pancakes! So glad I decided on ordering that. These are the most fluffy, delicious pancakes I've ever put in my mouth. Highly recommend. I ate them so quickly I forgot to take a photo.

  • *****

Have been very satisfied every time we've visited! AMAZING service and even better food!

  • *****

We had a group of about 20 people. The wait staff was very very accommodating & pleasant. I heard no complaints in our group about the food. Service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable.
My only suggestion is a separate bathroom for the men from the women ( but the one that they have was clean ....which was appreciated)

  • *****

I took recommendations from the staff and had The Chicken Artichoke quiche and my husband had the trio salad. Both were patron favorites and they didn't disappoint! Typically we leave with left overs but nothing was left to take home Small quaint restaurant in Old Town Spring worth trying. There is outdoor seating and wonderful smelling deserts...however we were too full to try them. Maybe next visit we will start with dessert first! To add to the charm is the chef came to see if our meal was ok. YELP it was!

Don Quixote's Home Decor in Old Town Spring Texas Loves, Loves, Loves this place, we recommend this place all the time!!!

  • *****

Great food! Nice staff! Been a regular customer since they opened.

  • *****

My dining companion and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food at Ellen's. It made such a nice change opposed to our usual burger and beer dinner. I did enjoy the quiche. We will return.

  • *****

Had a steak and my wife had the tuna. Loved the food. Service was great. Staff was knowledgeable about the menu, gave us suggestions and let us know specials for the night. Glad we stopped. We were in town scouting out some developments for our relocation and pretty sure we found a great spot to enjoy a great meal.

  • *****

This place is wonderful. The servings are plentiful (I took half my Rueben sandwich home for later) and the food is delicious!! The service is great and the people very nice. I will definitely be back!! The fudge is delicious!!

  • *****

Not only is food fresh and satisfying! The chefs are inspiring! Had my wedding dinner here and wouldn't have changed a thing!

Had a cinnamon roll and coffee with my wife. Staff was very friendly and a good atmosphere.

  • *****

Came in yesterday with 3 friends from Australia. They really enjoyed their trip to Houston and especially the trip to Ellen's Cafe in Spring! Thank you so much!

  • *****

After a grueling day of Disaster Relief work, the team headed here for a treat. We'd already been fed supper, but still the menu was enticing. Some indulged, others settled for some delicious ice cream. This quaint restaurant maintains a perfect fit for this area of Spring. The staff was attentive and friendly. Sitting on the front porch on a lovely fall evening was just like hanging out at home. We'll return again to explore the menu further. Ettoufe? Cobbler? Frikadeller? Wagyu hotdogs? I could go on and on...and don't get me started on the breakfast menu? We may have to camp out for a month just to try it all!!

  • *****

Just had a delicious lunch here. Cheese burger was on a delicious roll with fresh veggies. I had the fruit salad and all fruit was very sweet and fresh looking. Great service it has kind of a tea room vibe. It's worth checking out if you're in Spring.

  • *****

Whenever I want good tasting and high quality food, I come to Ellen's. Everything is always good, and while I have many favorites, the Lobster Bisque soup, served on Friday, is really what I like best....oh, and the lemon meringue pie! It's all good. Another plus is the quaint, country feeling and the wait staff are so friendly. This place gets five stars from me every time I eat there.

  • *****

This is my favorite restaurant for lunch or breakfast. The fruit is fresh and flavorful, the soups are incredible and the salads are amazing. The ice creams are home made and to die for! The espresso is my all time favorite

  • *****

Amazing attention to detail. Love the eggs, cooked perfectly, wonderful hash and fresh fruit.
Wow! Great job, I'll be back.

Ellen's is a must! Hidden treasure in old town Spring.

  • *****

best cafe in town, friendly and family oriented.
    great food.

  • *****

My husband and I found Ellen's Cafe on a trip through Spring, TX and we're so pleased with our meal. The menu isn't huge but has a wide variety of dishes to please all tastes. There is even an option to create your own plate - a great idea that we hadn't seen before. I had the Frikadeller which is a combination of pork and beef served with the best spatzel I've ever eaten and a delicious gravy. My husband had Beef Stroganoff which was equally delicious. Both meals were excellent and a good value for the money (the portions were large). The service was attentive (the chef even came out to check on us) and the atmosphere was casual and charming. It was too hot to eat outside but the patio looked nice. We would highly recommend this restaurant for both couples and families. Thank you for a great meal!

  • *****

During a visit to Old Town Spring we planned to try a restaurant that we'd heard was good but it was closed the day we were there. Good for us! We decided to try Ellen's and what a good choice it was. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in and we're seated quickly. The kids' menu is not printed but the servers tell the choices when asked. We had a kid's mac and cheese, a California turkey sandwich and their signature chicken, spinach and artichoke quiche. The mac and cheese was not the out of a box kind! It was creamy and the grandson loved it. The sandwich had turkey, cheese, guacamole and lettuce/tomato and came with a large serving of beautiful fresh fruit. Pronounced to be delicious! My quiche was delicious and I chose a salad as my side. It was fresh and served with a yummy fill dressing. We ended our lunch with a visit to the candy and ice cream counter. We had just enough room to try a few pieces of fudge. YUM! If you are in Old Town Spring, this is a great choice.

  • *****

Nice place for lunch, uniqyue choices such as chef salad sandwich and a variety of quiche choices. Quiet, not rushed, good food and good service.

  • *****

Very comfortable environment! Colorful decorations! Food was hot, seasoned just right and very tasty! We will plan another meal at Ellen's on our return trips to the Houston area. Owners, Jessica and Matthew are very hospital and accommodating..Joe & Jan H

  • *****

The ice cream cones here are around $3 each. (that's a simple cone like the ones at mcdonalds) Omg the ice cream here is amazing though, so it's worth it! They stack it high too! My son loves the rocky road, but they were out this past time we visited. The girls working were very helpful. One offered rocky road fudge, but he isn't too keen on fudge. Next they offered to put marshmallows in the plain chocolate for him. The marshmallows are the reason why he likes rocky road. He opted for fudge brownie ice cream. Very rich & creamy. I got butter pecan. We love this place. Perfect on a hot summer day! They also have sorbet, which I'm interested in trying.

  • *****

Chef Matthew has done a wonderful job with Ellen's! We have eaten there for breakfast and dinner.

The chicken, spinach and artichoke quiche is AMAZING and loaded with chicken and veggies!

I had never tried Frikadeller before, and it was so wonderful! I dug in and forgot to take a picture. My husband liked his steak salad. My father-in-law had the chili cheese dogs that had homemade chili, and loved them!

I love that Chef Matthew came out to check on us, and we got to ask him the stories behind the Frikadeller dish and his unique pickled grape tomatoes.

We'll be back, and I'll take pics next time.

Lovely menu and even more delightful owners. Came here years ago and thought it was fine. But I am so impressed with the enhancements the new owners made to the menu. They switched to a lot of higher quality items. Also, planning to try all you can eat spaghetti on Thursday's. Excited to have a fresh, local place where you can know the owners.

Went there after visiting a closed cajun restaurant. Pleasantly surprised. Great salad and service, truly a hidden gem.

We went for lunch today. The staff was super super nice. Food was amazing! We live down the street and have never been. Can't wait to go back!

Good place , friendly staff , the food taste amazing and the boylan soda it's amazing , the restaurant has this classic look (good for the area ) I be here a Monday , it's not to much costumer that day but it's great place for a lunch in the area.
You can relax here in a Monday , the coffee and sodas (classic sodas ) it's a good complement, the fresh taste of the food make you forget it's Monday.

The minute you walk in the door you are hit with yummy smells. The food here was fresh, homemade and very tasty. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area shopping and need to refuel. I got the Grilled Reuben and my husband got the Fajita Pita. Both were phenomenal. Service was great and the place was nice and clean and packed I might add.

I'm not a fan of foo-foo tea-room sandwich joints but once in a while Mrs Eva drags me into one. That's what I thought I was getting at Ellens, but wait, there's more!

They had a great looking menu - all cold sandwiches, but a huge selection and soups, and good looking salads...
Mrs Eva had a chicken salad sandwich with potato cheese soup and a fruit bowl. I had the crab salad sandwich and the same sides. I was FULL of great food! The waiter was exceptional!
When they brought this wheelbarrow sized chef salad to the lady at the next table, I really wanted to help her with all that ham, turkey, olives ....
    Give me some more foo-foo!

Excellent casual eatery in the heart of Old Town Spring. Predominantly salads, sandwiches, soup and related combos. I had Ellen's special which was a 1/2 sandwich, cup of soup and fruit for less than $10. Very good bread and the soup of the day was chicken tortilla which was also good. Seating inside was plentiful and the a/c was cranking. There is also limited seating on the front and back porch. Overall a very good choice and certainly healthier than the bbq, corn dog and fried Twinkie places that are nearby.

We really enjoyed this little restaurant. The atmosphere is nice. It looks pretty dated but it's clean. The albacore tuna salad was fresh and delicious. I also thought the basic salad was fresh and tasty. Its a great lunch spot.

It was a hot summer day in August - the humidity and heat barely manageable. Not many shops in Old Town Spring were open, so when we happened on Ellen's Cafe we decided to cool down inside and have some lunch at about 1245 pm. Upon entry, the cafe had a "mom and pop" appeal. When entering the establishment, to the left was an appealing ice cream shop and to the right was the cafe. The first table in the cafe area was cluttered with disorganized papers, calculator, and other office supplies. Not so much an eyesore but more so of a "welcome to my business" appeal. Some may not like this, but I do and appreciate the "family-oriented" view.

There were three of us in the group; me, my brother, and his wife who were from Oklahoma and in Houston for a visit. We all ordered something different. I ordered the Tuna (Cheddar) Melt with chips, brother ordered the Cafe' Chef Salad, and sister-in-law ordered the CBS Sandwich. Both of them liked their food and said it tasted good and got a good size serving.

My Tuna Melt was very good - great tasting tuna salad with cheddar cheese inside two pieces whole wheat bread and grilled perfectly to a nice crisp. You would think the tuna salad would not taste so good inside grilled bread, but it tasted great.

For dessert my brother and I trounced over to the ice cream parlor section. Sarah was helpful in the decision between the many "home-made-daily" ice cream choices available. I chose the Rocky Road in a cup and my brother got the Praline Pecan in a waffle cone. Sarah informed us that she makes all the cones by hand also. It was a welcomed chilly taste to the absurdly humid and hot weather outside. The Rocky Road ice cream was delicious. I took some pictures of the place, but when trying to upload them the network crashed. Dang Sprint does it again and Welps on my Yelp. Oh well, Sarah had an awesome smile and was very helpful.

Cheers to Ellen's for making the weather bearable for lunch.

Had a birthday party at Wimberley Valley Wine bar in Old Town Spring, we placed our food order with Ellen's Cafe. The food was delicious. Sandwiches were big and very fresh. The bacon - spinach quiche was wonderful. We very much enjoyed the meal. My only suggestion is that each order be in individual containers. That way it's all separated for each individual. Don't get me wrong, the presentation was great, it's just that with our get-togethers it works out better that way. Thank you Ellen's for fresh wonderful food.

A cute place with decent food. We were hailed from the street, which is why we came in, and I'm glad we did. Great quiche, soups, and sandwiches.

I'm glad a chef who is a food enthusiast has taken over the business. We live down the street and will be visiting often.

Ellen's is a great place for lunch a late afternoon snack. Their rueben sandwich is the best I've ever had with homemade sauce and fresh ingredients. The bread pudding is not on the menu yet but is phenomenal. Freshly made with real rum sauce, it's a true out-of-body experience. I've been here several times and have never had a bad meal. They also have a good ice cream selection. Staff is always friendly. And to top it off, they have sno-cones on Saturdays!

Great place!! This is my 5th visit and I'm in Love!! I've had the California Turkey sandwich, the Reuben, the chicken artichoke, spinach quiche and all are fantastic!!
They also have ice cream, smoothies and homemade fudge!! The fudge that has three layers is phenomenal!!
On Saturday they have a snow cone cart out front! And these are real snow cones!! Not that crunchy shaved ice! It's soft and delicious just as a snow cone should be!!
Love the new owners!! Definitely recommend Ellen's and will be visiting often!!

Stopped by for lunch after incredibly positive feedback on Facebook. We were not disappointed! Soup of the day for be was split pea with ham. Unbelievable! Entree was chicken fajita pita which was fabulous! My wife had chicken salad sandwich - which also was excellent. Menu has tastes for many different pallets - they even serve gluten free bread by request! Topped it off with peach cobbler ala mode. The place is homey and very comfortable. Wait add and owners both interested in how we enjoyed our meal. Really can't say enough!

Excellent Beef Sliders complemented with horseradish and au jus sauce on the side. Soups are wonderful as well and tonight's was bacon potato but lobster bisque on Friday is wonderful as well. Finished with a great slice of carrot cake! Well worth the trip.

We love this place for lunch and have never been disappointed...we have had dinner there a few times and I must say that the level of quality and serve is very consistent. I opted for the choose your own plate, with choices of a protein, starch, vegetable and sauce. OMG....the 12oz ribeye is one of the best I have ever eaten and with the spinach au gratin and the mushroom demiglace and mashed potatoes ...I was in heaven!!!! It looked divine, tasted even better( didn't know that was possible). My hubbie opts for the Roquefort Bleu Cheese Burger with applewood smoked bacon, lettuce and tomato on a brioche bun with potato salad on the side. He is in love with this combo. Haven't had a chance to try breakfast but I know it wouldn't be fabulous too.
I would love to see more people loving this place too...it is truly a hidden gem

Great quaint caf. We were missing home in New Orleans so we went on Yelp and found Ellen's Caf. We were greeted by one of the owners, Matthew whom was very nice and courteous and...... also from Louisiana. The food was great!!!!

This place is awesome! Wife and I went to Ellen's on Saturday night for our first date night since our son was born. The amazing food was only surpassed by the level of service. Chef Matthew came to our table multiple times to discuss the menu and how everything tasted. I got the seared ahi tuna with asparagus and homemade mac n cheese. Everything was delicious. The highlight of my meal was the blackberry cobbler w/ cinnamon ice cream. Sooooooo good.

    Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!

    This place is adorable!

The staff at the front counter are so sweet. My mom and I went in on our annual trip to Old Town Spring and walked in to get coffee to go. We loved chatting with the staff and so we sat down and hung out for about half an hour.

Not only did we have good coffee and the most amazing slice of quiche, but we started off our day on the right foot talking with some really kind people.

You keep working towards your goals ladies and gentlemen, you're going to get there. ;)

Also, we stopped by on the way out of town and picked up a massive slice of homemade pie to take to my dad for dessert. It was so good he decided to eat it all in one sitting!

    We'll be back!

Great Food, nice proportions and we had a very good waiter - with a great personality. Very pleased with our spur of the moment spot for lunch.

Took my family here one day after shopping. It was a rainy Sunday, but there were still quite a few people in there. Our service was great and everyone loved their food. We had four children between the ages 7 through 11. The waitress was very patient with the children and attentive to a group of 8. I had the crab salad sandwich, delicious!!! I would eat there again :)

We love Ellen's! They are always so happy and helpful ... Not to mention how good their food is , Butter squash soup is my alltime fave! Kid friendly with an amazing back deck to eat on!!!! A must stop place in Old Town Spring !!!!

The spinach and bacon quiche is packed full of goodness! Made fresh every day! Staff is nice and courteous. Service was prompt but I was here at an off time.

Stopped in at Ellen's to feed our sweet tooth with a scoop of ice cream. What a lovely little restaurant with gracious employees.

Ellen's does serve lunch, as they had a good-sized indoor dining area as well as a small patio area with covered picnic tables for their guests. A small ice cream parlor-style area is separated from the dining area where you can purchase cups or cones along with fudge or other sweet treats.

I can't attest to the quality of the food, but there did appear to be regular customers here who were being tended to promptly. Since we only had ice cream, we sat for a bit in the ice cream parlor area and then moved briefly outside to finish up. Prices were reasonably and servers were very friendly. A great place to stop!

Very happy with this place. Perfect kish, excellent savory crepe (though quite expensive for a brunch item and the price is not in the menu), both with fresh fruit salads. The aroma of fresh waffles brings some extra charm. The portion size is truly Texan. Dog are allowed on the terrace which is wonderful!

I highly recommend this place. The food is excellent and the staff are amazing! I always leave knowing so much love goes in to every dish prepared.

Really cool cafe in the heart of old town Spring. The sandwiches and salads are huge and definitely worth it. Everything was very fresh and my soup of the day (spinach potato) was fantastic. Best part is the ice cream and fudge counter. Will be back!

A very easy going great tasting place to visit.. food was great.. I had the lobster bisque and Caesar salad, and my wife had the chicken spinach asparagus quiche with a Caesar salad... Both were great!! Worth a visit!

The spinach and bacon quiche is to die for. The atmosphere is cute and quaint. Ellen's is a gem of a place hidden in old town spring. It's under new ownership, so the name could change soon so be on the look out!

This place is a gem. The staff and owners work hard and really care if you are enjoying the food. Great homemade sandwiches, plenty of food. Lovely fresh fruit salad sides. Desserts are fantastic and most made there.

Feel more like ice cream? They all ways have a nice selection and it's good stuff. Not junky no flavor ice cream.

Nice back covered porch where you can sit and enjoy the leaves falling if temps are right. Love it.

Amazing food and service was right on the money .i also love the old town spring location very cute and great shops that where homes long ago.

  • *****

Outdoor seating. Nice staff. Generous scoops. I think this may be one of the only places with an ice cream bar in the area. We looked for a while and everyone pointed us here.

  • *****

Really a great place! We went for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant was quiet and only a handful of customers coming and going, which needs to change because this place is amazing and I am sure once more people find this place it with become a packed house.

I had the Frickadilla (I believe that is what it is called) and it was so amazing - the green peppercorn sauce was just terrific. The red cabbage was cooked perfectly with a perfect balance between sweetness and vinegar. The spatzle was a really great base for the entire dish. I finished dinner with a blackberry cobbler which was also fantastic.

The place consists of an indoor sit down area and patio. There is also an ice cream parlor that is apart of this establishment.

The chef comes out to the table and checks on you and your meal. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The menu diverse - German, Cajun, Texmex, seafood and so really awesome looking salads and sandwiches.

    GO THERE
I LOVE Ellen's Cafe! My friend and I were shopping and stopped in for lunch. The food was spectacular and we were treated like guests in a home as opposed to a business. The quiche and the honey mustard are to die for! It's the perfect place to eat great and enjoy great service!
